Compasso d'Oro Career Prize to Anna Ferrino
Ferrino, a leading company in the outdoor and sports goods sector, is pleased to announce that its CEO, Anna Ferrino, has been awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro Career Prize. The award ceremony was held on 20 June 2024 at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, in combination with the opening of the exhibition of products and projects selected for the XXVIII edition of the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.
The Compasso d'Oro Prize, established in 1954, is one of the most prestigious awards in the world of design. This prize is awarded by the Association for Industrial Design (ADI) and the ADI Foundation, and aims to celebrate excellence in Italian design. Anna Ferrino has been recognised as a leading figure and unquestioned protagonist of Italian design culture, thanks to her continuous commitment and passion shown over the years, expressed in a career built on two pillars: culture and sport. A way - as the award citation itself states - that starts from far away, within the tradition of family businesses meant as a capacity for transmitting values before economics.
"I am extremely proud to receive this prestigious award," said Anna Ferrino during the ceremony. "This award represents not only an important personal achievement, but also a reward for the long entrepreneurial journey of my family, our partners Rabajoli and the entire Ferrino team, who with dedication and professionalism contribute every day to the success of our company. It will be a further spur to continue working with passion to keep the high value of Italian design in the world of sports articles, offering mountain enthusiasts functional objects with innovative and durable solutions that allow them to enjoy their experience in nature in safety and comfort".
Anna Ferrino also reminded us of the importance of the company's adventurous history which is inseparable from the history of mountaineering and exploration, finally revealing a great passion for Ferrino's iconic product: "The camping tent is the most iconic product of our brand, as well as my favourite product: a true capsule of freedom and intimacy, whose evolution over time has always been influenced by sociological and economic transformations".
Ferrino, however, is not only camping, but also mountaineering and expeditions, in other words, tents intended to shelter extreme explorers: "The mountaineering tent," continues Anna Ferrino, "requires a responsible and careful design, because it is not just an object, but a true survival capsule. In designing these objects, our great experience, a meticulous selection and testing of materials and in the wind tunnel, the analysis of tests in the environment and reports from previous expeditions, the development work in close collaboration with the most famous mountaineers who have always found in Ferrino a high-altitude tailor at the service of their exploits, are fundamental".
A strong passion for design and innovation, always keeping an eye on new trends and creativity: "I like to observe how outdoor enthusiasts move in different geographic areas, it is a fundamental exercise in intuiting new trends. However, I don't only take inspiration from our community of reference, but I try to capture inspiration from everything around me and in particular from my great passion for contemporary art: artists are aerials towards the future".
