This icefall is comprised of 30m drip which breaches two vertical sections. The first, short and 80°, leads to the icefall proper: a vertical wall, demanding and never banal. The icefall is located in a narrow gorge receives the sun in the morning until midday and is therefore best climbed in the afternoon. Avoid repeating the route after snowfalls due to the risk of avalanches.
Access
Reach Cesana Torinese, cross the bridge located to the right of Hotel Edelweiss, continue straight on for about 100 meters then turn right and pass the police station. Continue up the road for about 300 meters then park the car in the obvious layby where the path begins (#601) marked with red dots (direction Fenils).
Proceed along the path, following the red dots for about 40 minutes, cross two rivers and when the Mollieres hamlet lies to the right, walk up the large meadow on the left to reach the river which, in 10 minutes, leads to the base of the icefall. The approach takes 1 hour and snowshoes are required. Descent
Abseil down the icefall or use the chain and maillon rapide left on the pine tree on the left by the first ascentionists. Gear
Full ice climbing rack.
