Route

First ascended by Tyrolean ice climbing legend Andreas Orgler, Hängende Gärten is the classic ice fall in Tyrol, fullstop. An important chapter in Tyrol's ice climbing history was written in 1988 when Orgler made the first ascent and the route remained the hardest in the region for many years. If little ice forms then the drip on the second pitch becomes a serious outing, while the third pitch climbs a series of demanding vertical drips.

Getting there
Drive down the Inntal motorway into the Sellraintal to Gries. In Gries follow signs for Praxmar and continue all the way up to Gasthof Lüsens where the road ends. Access
From the Gasthof enter the valley by following the cross country piste to the valley station of the cable car used to transport gear. Follow the cables upwards then climb directly to the icefall. Walk-in: 30 minutes. Itinerary
