When asked about the most beautiful natural wonders in Alta Valtellina, the waterfall Rin de Scegn at Crap de Scegn immediately springs to mind. Located above the village of Isolaccia in Valdidentro and wedged into a truly magical natural environment, this waterfall is almost a hundred meters high.
Getting there
From Bormio take the main road 301 towards Livigno, reach Isolaccia and park either at the start of the village or close to the church. Itinerary
From the church square at Isolaccia, follow the road to Livigno and after the bridge which crosses Rio Scianno, continue until the road dips slightly. Turn off right onto Via Plomp Plomp and return to Rio Scianno once again. Before crossing the bridge however, walk up some steps and coast along the stream and then follow the old mule track leftwards. Reach a large boulder covered by moss, on its right there is an old shelter for animals.
The path that ascends left leads the Baita Spigolon, while our route heads up right, through the beautiful fir tree forest. After three hairpin bends the mule track steepens, but don't be discouraged as the spectacle that awaits will immediately make you forget about all the hard work. After ten bends you finally reach the point which offers sweeping views onto the waterfall. Difficulty
