Route

The Ollomont valley with its mixed climbs is a true paradise; away from the more famous crowded areas, below Mont Vela and Grand Combin are a flurry of icefalls immersed in absolute tranquility. Albice ascends to the left of Pat & Gab. The first part, after a mixed pitch, tackles a step line of fragile and thin drips to reach the final pitch. This breaches the roof via a leftwards trending crack to reach a hanging drip. Apart from a peg on the last pitch and some slings on the tree for the abseil, we left no gear insitu!

Getting there
From Aosta: take the highway SS 26 and then turn off right for the Gran San Bernardo valley (SS 27). At Signayes turn off right for Valpelline. Reach this village and after 300m turn off left for Ollomont. Continue up to reach the small hamlet Glassier. The icefalls can be seen high on the right. Access
Park the car at Glassier, cross the river and continue on foot through the forest to reach the base of the route. Gear
