The first edition of Orcoblocco can now be archived and this bouldering meeting reminded everyone thatCeresole Reale is located not only in the "heart" of the Piedmont side of the Gran Paradiso National Park, but also high up in the Orco valley, an area filled to the brim with boulders and faces that are still unclimbed and waiting to be explored.

The 150 climbers who took part in the meeting witnessed an event that will be repeated next year, with plenty of new ideas devised by the “new Orcos”, up here within the park's beautiful larch tree forest. The area's potential is enormous and obvious, and some fantastic new lines were climbed by the Rock Slave team led by Marzio Nardi. He made the first ascent of an incredibly beautiful 7C arête in the Fonti area, while young Lorenzo Carasio spent time to clean and then make the first ascent of Bocadillo en cala figuera (7B) on the massive Ceresole Royal boulder.

Orcoblocco also produced the first bouldering guidebook to the Orco valley, with accurate descriptions of the 160 problems that have so far been cleaned and climbed. The booklet costs 10 Euros and can be bought at Rifugio Massimo Mila.
