Unfortunately there is no better place to witness the retreat of glaciers than on the Mer de Glace, the sea of ice on the French side of Mont Blanc. It is on this enormous glacier that young Marseille artist Philippe Echaroux launched his appeal against global warming, in his own particular manner: with a drawing on France’s most imposing glacier. Obviously the tool Echaroux used for his artwork wasn’t spray paint, but light, projected directly onto the ice. Defined by Echaroux as "Street art 2.0", that leaves no trace. Echaroux’s work on the Mer de Glace is called Ice Scream - for obvious reasons - and was created together with French mountain guide Jeff Mercier. Seeing that it also created a buzz on French television, evidently Echaroux achieved his aim.
