Tour du Rutor

On 9/04 Guido Giacomelli and Mirko Mezzanotte won the Tour du Rutor, the final stage of the World Cup 2005, won by the Frenchmen Gachet Gregory and Perrier Florent ahead of Giacomelli and Mezzanotte and the Swiss duo Blanc and Brosse.
Despite bad weather and intense cold as low as –20°C, the final stage of the ski mountaineering World Cup, the Tour du Rutour, was won by Guido Giacomelli and Mirko Mezzanotte.

The duo battled it out against stiff opposition on the 2200m height gain course. Brunod and Reichegger started off at a punishing pace, trailed by Boscacci - Murada intent on defending their second place in the overall World Cup ranking. Giacomelli and Mezzanotte caught up with the leading pairs at the technical fixed rope section, and overtook them during the descent and steep ascent back up to Colle Ch̢teau Blanc 3422m, from where a rapid finishing flurry brought them to the finishing line and second place overall in the World Cup ranking. The French duo Gachet РPerrier, who placed fifth at the Tour du Rutour, won the overall 2005 title.

The women's event was dominated by Bourillon-Lathuraz from France, and the provisional world cup leaders Magnenat-Mabillard from Switzerland. Bourillon- Lathuraz finished the course in 3.14.29, 49 seconds ahead of locals Nex – Pellissier, and almost 3 minutes ahead of the Swiss team, which comfortably took the overall World Cup 2005 title.
