Two new multipitches on Speckkarplatte in Austria's Karwendel by Peter Manhartsberger & co
Leider Geil. Unfortunately it's awesome. If the name is anything to go by, then the latest creation by Peter Manhartsberger and Armin Fuchs is a must-climb. Located on the insanely beautiful Speckkarplatte in the Halleranger - Speckkar area of Austria's Karwendel mountains, the 225m outing was established ground-up over the last four years and sports nine perfectly bolted pitches with difficulties up to 8a. It tackles a completely independent line to the right of Hundert Wasser and to the left of Woodstock, and thanks to its location and rock quality both climbers convene "that the route is probably one of the most beautiful that we know."
The 8a difficulties are a significant obstacles for many so it's worth noting that earlier this summer Manhartsberger established Trog mi Wind on the nearby Floitenturm. First ascended with Raphael Jäger (on a very foggy day) and Michael Zellinger, this boasts 4 pitches of bullet-proof limestone once again. Difficulties check in at 7c max, due to an extremely bouldery crux section on pitch one, which alternatively be climbed as 6c and A0 aid, bringing the difficulties down to a more amenable 7b max.
