Stefano Carnati setting a new Guinness World Record
It’s always a pleasure to see climbing make it onto TV when something impressive is being done, when our athletes manage to get the message across to a wider audience - even if only for a few seconds - about the values of this sport. And so, after Stefano Ghisolf's outstanding performance on American Ninja Warrior (he became the first European to complete this difficult obstacle course) here’s a short video of Stefano Carnati (Ragni di Lecco climber and Youth World Champion of this category) who set a new "Guinness world record" on prime-time television by racing across a 15m horizontal roof in a mere 62 seconds.
It might seem like a bit of joke but it really isn’t: the route is a pretty tough 7c. In actual fact the record was set last July, but the program was aired only a few nights ago. For the record: the holds were designed specifically for this test and the route, set by Donato Lella, could now be used as a new standard for future record attempts.
