After sending four 8C problems, 25-year-old Italian climber Stefano Carnati has now sent his first 8C+ by repeating Vecchio Leone Sit Start in Brione, Switzerland. As the name suggests, this is harder version of Vecchio Leone, added a year ago by England's Aiden Roberts; two additional moves that bump the grade from 8B to 8C+.

Carnati is enjoying an incredible run of form: in April this year he redpointed 9b by repeating Erebor at the crag Eremo di San Paolo close to Arco, while in July he flashed his first 8B+ boulder problem, Paradise Lost at Sustenpass.

As for Vecchio Leone Sit Start, the repeat came about last Friday, completely alone, after having climbed sent the original start 5 years ago. "For the sit I made a few attempts last year, with very little continuity, and 3 days this year! It all boils down to just 2 moves before rejoining the stand start!"
