Stefano Carnati climbing Hyaena 8b/b+ at Finale
30 years have passed since, at the Alveare di Monte Sordo at Finale, Andrea Gallo made the first ascent of Hyaena. At the time this was the hardest route in the area, certainly one of the most difficult sport climbs not only in Italy, destined to a sublime future: stand the test of time and fuel the dreams of many.
Only a select few, during the last three decades, have managed to stick the famous crossover that has become an icon for cutting-edge difficulties. All this happened back in 1985, at the start of sport climbing, Gallo was a mere 22 years old when he created his masterpiece. Much has changed since those days, but the holds have remained the same and were caressed, at the start of the year, by Stefano Ghisolfi and, more recently, by young Stefano Carnati.
