There's a moment before Melloblocco. Or rather, a "first-time" for those indispensable, "motionless players" that all Melloblockers dream of, caress, attempt and climb. This moment begins with an idea that starts with a research, with a discovery. For this one needs visions. Needs to be capable of seeing a soul where apparently there is nothing. One needs to interpret that soul without distorting it. This requires imagination and involvement. Knowledge, and even a little bit of courage. And of course hard work, lots of hard work. Sweat. Empathy and the desire to create something new. This is precisely how the famous Melloblocco boulder problems see the light of day. A patrimony of imagination applied to rock and its invisible treasure maps comprised of cracks and crystals, crimps and slopers. A patrimony passed on to all. And which, for the first time ever, has been documented in a photographic exhibition dedicated to the work - and to that moment before - carried out by the team of route setters headed by Simone Pedeferri.
The pictures taken by Laura Benavides, Francesco Piovesan and Mirko Masè that tell this story will be exhibited at Bar Monica at San Martino Valmasino from Friday 27 April to 31 May.

MELLOBLOCCO BACKSTAGE PHOTO EXHIBITION

The event has just finished and, full of memories, we head home, off to the next destination, dreaming of our favorite objectives, laden with recent emotions. Much was discovered, many problems solved but one secret still remains hidden. The moment beforehand.

What on earth happens to the protagonists before this event, when all of a sudden, after millions of immobile years they become involved in something which indelibly marks their lives? First they are discovered, then observed closely, studied in great detail, and then tried and tested before transforming from a disordered mass of crystals into something which has a name.

They appeared in the world for specific motives yet are used for something completely different, recognized by society, with their very own identity. They bask in the spotlight, reveling in this unique experience, in their own rebirth. Behind the scenes the actors are stripped of their robes and dressed up for the occasion, ready to make their entrance, encompassed by their new choreography.

They are ready, steadfast in their primordial location, poised to follow the script.

The filmmakers are hidden behind the stage, they observe the spectators who, once quiet, can now scream and shout.

Let the challenge begin.
