Lo Specchio, rock climbing close to Verona
I discovered Lo Specchio in the winter of 2013: when you turn the corner and are faced with this 50-meter wall you’re just blown away and can’t wait to start climbing. I immediately bolted the first four, five routes, but then due to a thousand other projects left the crag to itself.
I returned two years later to check it out once again and continue where I’d left off. And proved the spark that set the flame, I was enraptured. With indefatigable Giacomo Duzzi and Tommaso Marchesini, who bolted two awesome climbs, we set about sorting out the access path. After a couple of months work we’d almost completed it. In 2018 Michele Lucchini picked up where we left off and added two great route on the extreme right, while Ivo Bonazzi added a cable at the base making the approach to new section of the right somewhat more friendly. Other routes were added and the result is a series of spectacular climbs, masterpieces of Mother Nature, eroded by water, with holds (at times crimpy and unpleasant) that provide fun climbing in a unique setting above Val d 'Adige.
Given the exposure and approach the crag is not suitable for families and beginners, but only for experienced climbers. An 80-meter rope is obligatory, and a knot must be tied at the end of the rope!
