The italian Gaia Montuori climbs Good bye 1999 8a+/8b at Grotti
The Italian climber Gaia Montuori has made the first female ascent of Good bye 1999 8a+/8b at Grotti and repeated Uomo civile 8a+, al Gabbio. Good bye 1999 was first climbed by local Alessandro Lamberti and originaly graded 8b+; Cristian Brenna repeated the route finding an easier crux sequence slightly to the left, bringing the grade down to 8b. 31 year old Gaia Montuori, who has on-sighted up to 7c and started climbing in 1996, has now climbed ten routes graded 8a or harder: - So sexy 8a, Gabbio, Ferentillo - Mandela superstar 8a Gabbio, Ferentillo - Bird 8a, Balcone, Ferentillo - Alto Gradimento 8a, at Grotti - Opale 8a,Eaux Claires - Science Friction 8a, San Loup (1st female ascent) - La mia nuova fidanzata 8a, Grotta dell'Areonauta - Assalti Frontali 8a+, Grotti (1st female ascent) - Uomo civile 8a+, Gabbio, Ferentillo - Good bye 1999 8a+/8b Grotti.
