America's Chris Sharma has added another to his "collection of hard epic deep water solos" on the island of Mallorca. After Es Pontas (2006), Alasha (2016), Big Fish (2020) and Black Pearl (2023), the 43-year-old has now made the first ascent of Vision Quest which he believes warrants 9a.

Success came about after more than 30 days on the route "and the full spectrum of ups and downs along the way". Interestingly his redpoint of "one the best and hardest Psicobloc lines I’ve ever climbed" came in mid-December, which isn't the traditional period for DWS above the Mediterranean sea. As Sharma explained though "No doubt the late December freshness added to the intensity."

Further details will follow in due course.
