Climbing the red granite cracks on Spitzkoppe in Namibia

The environment is amazing; Spitzkoppe is an exceptional place. The idea came to us after talking to Maurizio Giordani, who had been there the year before and had been enchanted by it, too. The walls are up to 600 meters high and the rock is a striking red granite, not always excellent quality. The climbs, even the easiest ones, are generally demanding and route finding can prove testing. Although access is fairly easy, the routes are not protected particularly well With cams and wires the cracks are relatively safe, but the slabs can prove psychologically challenging with run-out gear and low friction - this is certainly climbing for "adult audience."

This, in a nutshell, is how Manrico Dell’Agnola describes the climbing at Spitzkoppe, the most important mountains in Namibia he visited with Antonella Giacomini, Giovanni Pagnoncelli and Marcello Sanguineti. Dell’Agnola’s video and photos speak for themselves.
