In January 2021 Swiss mountaineers Roger Schäli and Marcel Schenk teamed up to add an interesting direct start to the ultra classic icefall Sot la sesa above the tiny village of Mulegns in Canton Graubünden, Switzlerand.
Located at 1500 meters above sea level, Lila Luna is a four-pitch outing with a steep start on rock that leads past various drips before joining the huge Sot la sesa flow which, in turn, provides a further 200m of exciting WI5 climbing.
The route was climbed onsight past difficulties up to M6 WI5+ and without bolts.
Described as a “super cool” experience, this is no doubt an interesting addition to one of the most impressive ice climbs in the area.
