Mont Blanc: the land of toys - full movie
Filmed between June 2014 and April 2015 by Luca Rolli, the idea of the Italian alpinist and filmmaker was to document snowboarders, extreme skiers and alpinists using a technique never used before, namely by keeping up close to them using a followcam that stabilizes the vibrations and superfluous camera movements.
The Courmayeur based mountain guide told planetmountain.com "I managed to film my friendsDavide Capozzi, Julien Herry and Giulia Monego in astounding, marvelous settings such as: the Bonatti gully on Petit Mont Blanc; Les Courtes NE couloir; Col du Plan, north face and south face of Dents de Géants. These are all demanding descents where you can’t take for granted that someone can follow a skier (or snowboarder), nor can you take for granted that the riders are happy being followed up close by a cameraman. The result is clear for all to see."
The film includes Sweden’s Andreas Fransson, who died prematurely in Patagonia in September 2014, and also Francesco Civra Dano whose climb up the Lepiney route on Trident du Tacul is filmed by a small drone. It comes as no surprise that the 13-minute flick, which will be published in full online by the end of the year, has won the "Dolomythos Award" 2015 at the Adventure Outdoor Fest in San Candido.
