Mick Fowler and Dave Turnbull first ascent of Mugu Chuli in Nepal

The British Mountaineering Council has posted a brief report stating that Mick Fowler and its chief executive officer Dave Turnbull have successfully climbed Mt. Gojung, also known as Mugu Chuli, in the remote upper Kajichuwa Valley. The duo sent a text message from Kathmandu stating "Success on Gojung (aka Mugu Chuli) 4 days up 3 days down + storm on top. Harder than expected and difficult descent"

Commenting on UK's Climber magazine prior to the expediton Fowler explained "The objective I have in my sights is an eye catching couloir line that leads directly to the summit via the centre of the very steep west face. On the information we have it seems this is an outstanding objective in an area of the Himalaya that has been very rarely visited and is bristling with unexplored terrain. Just getting there will be quite an adventure in itself and I am expecting this to be a challenging and lively expedition." Knowing Fowler - who has been active for over 30 years and in 2002 won the Piolet d’Or for his first ascent of the Central Couloir on Siguniang's North Face, China together with Paul Ramsden - this latest climb will have been another great adventure.
