Fabian Buhl in Flight mode: disconnect to reconnect
Matteo Pavana / Marco Zanone

With hard 8C boulders to his name, dangerous highballs, new routes across the Alps to the Himalayas and the first by-fair-means paraglide flight off the summit of Cerro Torre in Patagonia, 31-year-old Fabian Buhl is one of the most accomplished alpinists of his generation. But even the German isn’t immune to the pressure of needing to do more, often fueled by social media.

"I was doing a lot of routes in different mountains" Buhl explained "and then you realize you always make a post of it, you come back home and you look what other people have done...I was feeling a kind pressure to need to do something…" At this point Buhl decided that it was time for him to take a step back. To disconnect, in order to reconnect. As illustrated in this beautiful short by Matteo Pavana and Marco Zanone.
