Andrea Lanfri races from the Atlantic Ocean of Tenerife to the highest mountain in Spain and back
Andrea Lanfri has completed another From0to0 project, this time on the island of Tenerife where the Italian Paralympic athlete raced up Mount Teide, at 3715m the highest mountain in Spain. As usual the 36-year-old combined cycling, running and walking, with a start from and return to sea level.
Lanfri, who in 2015 had lost both legs and seven fingers following a fulminant meningitis with meningococcal sepsis, completed the route in 15 hours starting from the coast at Puerto de la Cruz. After summiting the volcano he descended to the coast at Guia de Isora. His 105 km journey was completed by bike or on foot, included 3715m vertical height gain, and crossed a series of climate zones in one of the Europe's most spectacular natural landscapes.
"It was a great experience, completing my first From0to0 in a foreign country! When I left I couldn't imagine such a beautiful environment" stated Lanfri. "The territories I crossed, still largely intact and wild, made up for all the effort involved!"
