Granite gneiss boulders in every size with lots of ledges, edges and slopers.

Amid Austria’s Hohen Tauern massif lies the bouldering area Felbertauern. The boulders are situated on beautiful alpine meadows and surrounded by majestic mountains and besides this magnificent location the area offers technically challenging problems. In summer there are a lot of fishermen and hikers who come and picnic here and the only drawback is the proximity to the road and noise. The bouldering is split into three sectors: Tal des Wassers’, Heidnische Kapelle and Wald, little-known but with a great variety of problems of all difficulties.
Access
From Innsbruck continue towards Germany, leave the A12 motorway at the exit ‘Kufstein Süd’ and continue towards Mittersill. At Mittelsill follow the Felbertauern Str. (B 108) to the parking area Elisabethensee (on the right) or continue to the big parking area at the Nordportal. From the Elisabethsee parking area it takes just 5 mins to reach the first boulders in the Wald sector or, walking in the other direction, the Heidnische Kapelle. The Tal des Wassers sector can be reached from the Nordportal parking area in circa 20 minutes. Period
Felberntauern is located at 1300-1700m and is ideal for summer and autumn. Bibliography
