Janja Garnbret is the new climbing world star! During 2015, the Slovenian 16 years old CAMP athlete was really unbeatable in youth competitions, got three podiums in some stages of senior Lead World Cup, won the famous Melloblocco boulder contest and closed the season winning La Sportiva Legends Only competition and getting her first 8c flash!
Going into details, we highlight the victory at Lead European Championship and the Lead and Boulder gold medals at World Championship. In the senior Lead World Cup, Janja got second places in Chamonix, France, and Imst, Austria, and was third in Kranj, Slovenia. Thanks to these great results, Janja gained the seventh place in the final World Cup ranking. From competitions to rocks, to say that in the last months Janja climbed her first 8b on-sight (Avatar in Pandora, Croatia), her first 8c (Scrat, in the same crag) and her first 8c+ (Miza za šest in Kotečnik, Slovenia). Of course, it needs to highlight also the amazing double performance in the last week of the year, when Janja got two 8c flash: Rollito Sharma Extension and La Fabelita in Santa Linya (Spain).
Last spring we asked Janja about her 2016 projects, we got a concise and clear answer: continue to win the youth competitions, get good results in the senior World Cup and improve the rock level. Now, it is obvious that Janja has managed to reach all her goals and she is ready for a super exciting 2016!
