The OutDoor by ISPO trade show in Monaco from the 3rd to the 5th of June is the reference exhibition event for the summer season collections for the international market and it is precisely on this occasion that Climbing Technology, a reference brand in the climbing sector, will present some of the new collection for 2025. The company from Bergamo which is part of the German Skylotec group will exhibit some new products in Munich, including the new MORFO BG BriLock Locking System carabiner which thanks to an innovative locking system has been awarded the ISPO Award 2024.

The jury awarded CT because of the advantages that the MORFO BG BriLock Locking System carabiner offers to the user, starting from the functionality which thanks to an innovative system that does not allow it to vibrate, making accidental and involuntary opening due to impacts or movements of the rope practically impossible.

The ISPO Awards Jury made the following comments about the winning carabiner. “A practical carabiner with an interesting new locking technology – we liked its lightness and simplicity whilst offering greater security and also how good the handling is, even without looking at it once you get the hang of it."

The technological innovation does not compromise simplicity of use because the MORFO BG can be easily used with just one hand and even when wearing gloves. Furthermore, the product is extremely light, weighing just 50 grams.

Climbing Technology’s Outdoor Product Manager Gianluca Brioschi commented “We are really happy to have obtained this important recognition and above all that the jury liked the new BriLock Locking System which exponentially improves the reliability and safety of the Morfo carabiner without increasing its weight and simplicity. Having obtained this ISPO Award is confirmation that our Research and Development team, like the rest of the company, is working in the right direction to achieve the ambitious goals we set ourselves at the beginning of the year".

CLIMBING TECHNOLOGY’S MORFO BG
The MORFO BG is CLIMBING TECHNOLOGY’s light alloy ergonomic carabiner with a dynamic and modern design, with the BriLock Locking System (BG). It’s lightweight and hot forged and is ideal for constructing belays, for connecting yourself to them and for critical connections. The MORFO BG is equipped with the BriLock Locking System which combines the simplicity of a screwgate with the additional safety of automatic locking. In the Neutral mode the connector is closed and the screwgate is free to rotate on itself without the lever opening and thus avoiding the risk of accidental opening due to vibrations, rubbing, impacts etc. Whereas in the Open mode the screwgate remains open to facilitate the performance of manoeuvrers. The D shape guarantees an optimal distribution of one-way loads; the snag free shape of the nose is designed to have maximum freedom for insertion into any type of anchor while the ribbed profile allows for an optimal grip during use. The contact areas with the anchor and the rope have been reinforced to guarantee maximum life of the carabiner even with intense use. The section of the MORFO BG has an excellent strength/weight ratio and the external and internal profiles are smooth to avoid snagging.

A special feature of the MORFO BG is the brand new and revolutionary patent-pending BRILOCK GATE semi-automatic screwgate which is the reason why it was awarded the ISPO Award 2024.

CLIMBING TECHNOLOGY’S BRILOCK LOCKING SYSTEM
The BRILOCK LOCKING SYSTEM is the revolutionary semi-automatic screwgate for connectors designed by CLIMBING TECHNOLOGY; it combines the simplicity of a screwgate with the additional safety of automatic locking. This revolutionary screwgate has many advantages; opening can be done using three movements: move the screwgate downwards, unscrew the screwgate and open the lever; the ergonomic opening direction is designed to be easily done with one hand and even when wearing gloves. Instead closing can be done in one single movement: just screw the screwgate until the automatic lock is activated. The BRILOCK LOCKING SYSTEM works in two positions: screwgate closed (neutral mode) and screwgate open (open mode). In the Neutral mode the connector is closed and the screwgate is free to rotate on itself without the lever opening and thus avoiding the risk of accidental opening due to vibrations, rubbing, impacts etc; whereas in the Open mode the screwgate remains open to facilitate the performance of manoeuvrers. Compared to the classic twist-lock and triplex systems, the closure is semi-automatic and does not force the user to have to continuously open the screwgate while performing manoeuvrers and the marked arrow-shaped engraving on the screwgate makes the opening movement intuitive. The BRILOCK LOCKING SYSTEM is available on the MORFO BG and OBX BG models.

The award will be presented during the ISPO Award Gathering and the winning product will be displayed in the special ISPO Award exhibition area. It will be possible to see the MORFO BG carabiner and all of Climbing Technology’s innovations at the OutDoor by ISPO trade show in Munich from the 3rd to the 5th of June at Climbing Technology’s stand n°445 located in Halle A1 of the Climbing Village.
