A new, short via ferrata which replaces the original one along the gully which is now closed for safety. The via ferrata runs along the southeast face and is normally undertaken in descent leaving from Rifugio Nuvolau. This is reached via path no. 439, along the wide ramp of the northwest crest.
From Rifugio Fedare (SS 638 of Passo Giau) take the chairlift up to Rifugio Averau and then reach Rifugio Nuvolau via path no. 439.
From Cortina d’Ampezzo take the road that leads to Passo Falzarego (SS 48) up to the Bàin de Dones restaurant. From here take the chairlift up to Rifugio Scoiattoli (or alternatively the track to path no. 440 which leads to the refuge). Then from Rifugio Scoiattoli take path no. 439 to Rifugio Averau and then on to Rifugio Nuvolau.
From Passo Falzarego take path no. 441-419 (1 hour 15 min, height difference 300m).
From the Refuge descend left to the SE crest by following path no. 438 to the start of the Ferrata.
ItineraryThe via ferrata begins by descending the ladder and then leads to the left along an equipped ledge. It proceeds to the bottom of the southeast rockface and the impressive vertical yellow Ra Gusela wall. Here it joins path no. 443 which, if followed to the left, leads to Rifugio Scoiattoli in an hour while to the right it leads to Passo Giau. There it joins path no. 452 which leads back up to Rifugio Averau (1 hour).
DescentFrom Rifugio Averau descend to Passo Falzarego along path no. 439 to Rifugio Scoiattoli (15 min). Continue on down by chairlift or along path no. 441 which in an hour leads directly to the Pass.
