wildlife photographer of the year, the world’s leading and most prestigious nature photography competition and touring exhibition, has revealed a first-look of highly commended images awarded in the 61st edition. Selected from a record-breaking 60,636 entries, the winners will be announced on Tuesday 14 October 2025.

The 60th edition of wildlife photographer of the year, the most important award dedicated to nature photography promoted by the Natural History Museum of London, has been won by Shane Gross of Canada for his photo of a mass of western toad tadpoles swimming below lily pads in Cedar Lake.
