Night Session 2014, the night bouldering meeting will take place on Saturday 4 October 2014 at Cresciano, Canton Ticino, Switzerland.
archivio Night Session
Night Session is the world's only night bouldering meeting. After four editions at Chironico, I decided I wanted to try and organise this international meeting at nearby Cresciano, another of the world's most famous bouldering destinations

What makes the Night Session unique is in its name: you climb by the light of the moon. Or rather, in the darkness of the forest, with the boulders illuminated by the light of hundreds of headlamps. For those who've never seen it, I can guarantee that this is something completely different and rather special: you're enveloped in night's silence, by the darkness all around you, friction is much better than during the day... Imagine a completely black postcard with some white dots on it. They're the climbers bouldering away. It's fantastic!

Within the Night Session event there's also a sort of competition, for those who love competitions, but the aim of the meeting certainly isn't to climb the hardest problems. No, the aim is to climb together, be there for the sheer pleasure of bouldering, sharing the same love for climbing, experiencing the magic. That's why we came up with a formula that is somewhat different: those who climb most win, not those who climb the hardest. Someone who climbs all night can beat someone who tries two really hard problems all night. Let's just call it a pretend competition!

We expect about 200, 250 registered climbers, plus others who'll come to see what it's all about. It's a fair number, but I have to say that since it all takes place in the black of night, you don't even realise how many people are around you. The meeting is open to everyone and it would be good if those interested in taking part pre-register. Pre-registration is simple and benefits everyone as it helps us organise the event even better. The goody bags are reserved to the first 200 pre-registered climbers. See you soon!

PS In addition to a crashpad, climbing shoes and chalk bag, don't forget a headtorch!

Rules
The more you climb = the higher your chances of winning:
Night Session rules allows anyone to be able to win the prize "Cresciano night session 2014".
How it works: each boulder (or problem) has an assigned score: 4a is 25 points, 5a is 50 points, 100 points 6a, 7a 200 points and so on.
Example: If a climber sends 11 6a problems the score is 1100 points; however, if another climber climbs one single 8a the score is 1000 points, that means if in the whole session the first climber sends just one 8a he'll place after the climber who sends 11 6a problems. That’s why it's so simple: the more you climb = the higher your chances of winning!
