"I'll also remember this winter because of the look in their eyes..." The eyes referred to are those of the deer that, during these days of exceptional snowfall, have found shelter in one of the many barns in Cortina, Italy. Yes, that Cortina d'Ampezzo that we've become used to thinking of as somewhat "removed" from the complexities and peculiarities of living in the mountains. As always something extraordinary was needed, such as snowfall like we haven't seen for years, to highlight what it really means to live in the mountains, on a day to day basis. The difficulties, but also the beauty of a world immersed within nature and with which it must confront itself. These last few days have taught just this. We've been taught this by the look in the eyes of the deer documented in this video by photographer Diego Gaspari Bandion. Utterly exhausted after the snowfall, they descended among us, found shelter in a barn, and were welcomed in... a sign of solidarity and closeness that, as always in times of need, unites all.
