With her mother's consent we'd like to highlight a great ascent by Eva Scroccaro, the youngster from Trieste in NE Italy who last Saturday managed to redpoint Giljotina, her first 8a, at the Slovenian crag Misja Pec. Eva is only 12 years old and reaching this objective obviously provided a great moment of joy for all concerned. Sara Avoscan - undoubtedly one of Italy's strongest female climbers at the moment - witnessed the redpoint and on "Trst climbing news" described the ascent as follows

"Today at Misja we all got really excited watching Eva climb: she sent Giljotina. You should have seen her fighting spirit and determination, she literally dominated the route. Everyone at Misja stopped to watch her, everyone cheered her on, while her mother Giulia had tears in her eyes belaying her daughter as she redpointed her first 8a. Seeing her climb like that and reach the chain was a moment of pure joy!"

What else can we say? Sincere congratulations to Eva!
