Elias Iagnemma grabs first ascent of Ganesh 8C+ at Tintorale, Italy
Elias Iagnemma has once again confirmed he’s unbelievable power with the first ascent of his mega project, now called Ganesh and graded 8C+.
Located at Tintorale close to L'Aquila in Abruzzo, Italy, this intense line was discovered and cleaned last year by Iagnemma and Jacopo De Sanctis. Iagnemma needed 8 days to solve the crux, and about 12/15 sessions in total before sending what promises to be one of the most intense problems out there, not only in Italy.
At present Iagnemma has sent ten boulders graded 8C or harder, including the 8C+ reference problem Gioia, freed by Christian Core at Varazze in 2008. Although the grades are the same, Iagnemma believes Ganesh could be slightly harder still, explaining that this is "certainly the most difficult boulder I have ever climbed and tried up to now". He added that he is delighted to have "given Abruzzo and Italy a boulder as intense as this one."
