Here are two short videos of the American climber Dean Potter. The first is the trailer of the film "The Man Who Can Fly" which was commissioned for National Geographic TV during which you get to see, between the various climbs, jumps and slacklines, Potter free soloing high on El Capitan. Up till now no one has ever climbed the monolith free solo and seeing that this remains one of the most audacious and coveted ascents of all, the video has aroused great interest.

Replying to outsideonline.com, Potter explained that he didn't start from the ground but instead he descended down the route Lurking Fear, then traversed across the Thanksgiving Ledge and a "magical passage" he had discovered which led him to the top quarter of Freerider "without EVER using a rope." This is where the second video comes into play, a sort of behind the scenes a thousand meters above Yosemite Valley.
