What renders the climbing in North Wales so special is undoubtedly its incredible variety: there really are few other places that have such a high concentration of so many different types of rock and climbing styles. From cutting edge sports climbs to adventurous trad climbs above the wild sea cliffs and up in the mountains, there's something for everyone. One of the hidden gems is called The Diamond, a beautiful wave of limestone located opposite the famous Lower Pen Trwyn, reached on foot at low tide or via an airy rope traverse and abseil. While the first routes date back to the first sport climbing boom in the early '80's, only in recent times has there been a resurgence in new routing. So much so that, as Steve McClure explains, this could be “the future of sport climbing in Great Britain."
