Rock climbing in Valdu di Saltu has a long history! It started 10 years ago when the urban district put in an order to valorize its natural patrimony. At that time Éric Biancarelli and Jean Michel Bordeaux were appointed to clear, clean and create this bouldering area. Then, because climbers visited this area only sporadically, moss took over once again. Today though one has to thank Estelle Bordes, Nathalie Bruschet, Sébastien Curnier and Cyril Salz: their huge work allows us to climb in one of the most beautiful areas in Corsica. More than 200 problems, a huge variety of styles and difficulties, in a magical wood where everyone can enjoy the day!
From Ajaccio, drive in direction of Propriano (N 196) until Petreto-Bicchisano. From Propriano or Sartène, follow the N 196 until Petreto-Bicchisano. From the roundabout situated at the north entrance of Petreto, take the direction Porto Pollo (D 757). After 1,2 km, turn right (direction biscuiterie Ettori – Valdu di Saltu), then left (200 meters lower), on a dirty road which quickly converts into a trail. Drive 900 m, pass a gate (shut it again!) and continue, always staying on the upper trail at each junction. 2,8 km after the roundabout, just before a glade, locate a recess in a right curve which can receive 3 cars. The following is made on foot: take a track in the continuation of the car place to rejoin the trail. Walk few minutes on it, past a platform (have a look on the sea, left side) and after a 100 meters downhill, turn right in the wood. Reach the first boulders in 5 minutes.
PeriodAutumn and spring. Climbing is also possible in summer: there is a lot of shade because the boulders are situated in a forest; a light, warm wind often blows during summer afternoons.
