Versante Sud and C.A.M.P. present the new aid climbing bible

Intelligenza artificiale is a very complete handbook that presents all secrets of aid climbing together with articles by some of the strongest aid climbers in the world.
The 1930s are known as “sixth grade era”. The strongest European mountaineers went in the Alps to solve the “last problems” and Riccardo Cassin was the best: he was an authentic climbing machine able to complete the first ascents of Piz Badile northeast face, Cima Ovest di Lavaredo north face and Grandes Jorasses north face via Walker Spur. Riccardo was a great free climber but also an aid climbing master: in his blacksmith workshop in Lecco, close to the Central Alps, he created the famous pitons that helped him to get his successes. From the Alps to the Yosemite Valley, where amazing rock climbers like Yvon Chouinard and Tom Frost were actors of incredible ascents: we remember them also because Yvon and Tom cooperated with C.A.M.P., allowing us to admire the art of aid climbing on Yosemite granite. In 1998, our ambassador Tomaž Humar achieved the historical first solo ascent of Reticent Wall, the most difficult aid route on El Capitan. Some years later, also Valerio Folco repeated this extremely challenging climb. Today several CAMP athletes – Libby Sauter, Marcin Tomaszewski, Rossano Libera, Matteo Rivadossi... - are really experienced in aid climbing. For all these reasons, we are proud and happy to have supported Fabio Elli, Diego Pezzoli and Versante Sud publishing house to realize Intelligenza artificiale, the new Italian bible of aid climbing. Intelligenza artificiale is a very complete handbook that presents all secrets of aid climbing together with articles by some of the strongest aid climbers in the world. Info about this fundamental book, that is published in Italian language only, are available here.
