Planetmountain
For the 2021 spring/summer season, the mountain sports experts from Southern Germany are presenting the Dry series – their first ever backpack collection consisting of three models that are completely PFC-free. The new Westalpen 3L jacket and pants complete the summer 2020 high alpine touring collection for high alpine mountain sports. In addition to these selected new products, Ortovox is relying upon tried-and-tested products for summer 2021: 75% of the collection will be made up of existing models from this year’s collection.
The weather can do whatever it likes
Ortovox’s first ever range of weather-proof backpacks for high alpine touring, mountaineering and climbing is ready to use even without a rain cover – and 100% PFC-free. The Dry series consists of three backpack models, each in a regular and short back length: Peak 40/38S Dry, Traverse 30/28S Dry and Trad 30/28S Dry. All three backpacks combine functionality and comfort thanks to their features, technical details, comfortable carrying and back system, the use of a waterproof outer material and the high-frequency welding technique used on the seams. The outer material’s special combination of a thin PU outer coating and a TPU coating inner makes it completely waterproof without additional DWR treatment. The result is a range of backpacks tailored to their areas of use, with features that are functional in any weather and that keep contents reliably dry on your tour – without the need for a rain cover.
High-alpine protective shield
A system for all conditions: In summer 2021, Ortovox will be complementing their collection for high alpine tours and challenging mountaineering with a robust hardshell outfit that is fully equipped with technical features: the Westalpen 3L jacket and pants. This new three-layer combo is part of the Westalpen system, consisting of a hardshell, softshell and insulating layer.
The wind and waterproof Westalpen 3L jacket comes with a Dermizax NX membrane and provides great freedom of movement thanks to the special cut of the arms and torso. Thus it will be easier to stretch your arms up over your head, even with a harness and backpack. Even the front pockets and zippers are designed to be used at any time. The hood also provides room for maneuver as it can be adjusted horizontally and vertically and is helmet-compatible. Cuffs and hems are adjustable, and the merino-wool lined collar is extra high. Thus the jacket protects against even the most adverse weather.
The new Westalpen 3L pants are robust, technical and suitable for both summer and winter. The innovative leg width adjustment is truly unique: With two invisible adjustment options, these pants can quickly be adapted to fit around ski boots and tightened for a close fit when using crampons with mountaineering boots. The additional integrated quick-gaiter system renders traditional gaiters redundant, and the Cordura-Dyneema mix provides particularly scuff-resistant protection against sharp edges.
