Sachi Amma strolls La Rambla
La Rambla, at least for all sport climbers, isn't just the beautiful street at Barcellona but also the famous rock climb at Siurana, established by Alexander Huber in 1994 to a pocket at circa 3/4 height, then extended in 2003 by Ramón Julián Puigblanque to get the super grade 9a+.
The pure stamina reference route continues to attract the best climbers in the world, starting with the first repeaters Edu Marin and Chris Sharma in 2006 and including the likes of Andreas Bindhammer, Patxi Usobiaga, Adam Ondra and Enzo Oddo. The latest to add his name to the list is Japan's Sachi Amma, finally "unleashed" after having won the lead World Cup 2012. Amma needed seven attempts spread out over 5 days to send his second 9a, after Pachamama at Oliana last winter.
