Marmolada South Face climbing ban extended until 22 July 2016

On 14/07/2016 the Italian municipality of Rocca Pietore (Bl) issued Ordinance 31 extending the climbing ban on the South Face of the Marmolada from 16 - 22 July 2016 due to works being carried out on the cable car station. The ban includes the face perpendicular to the top station of the section Serauta-Punta Rocca, Via Dell’Ideale and its variants, including 200m to the left and right of the base of the climb.

On 14 July 2016 the Municipality of Rocca Pietore issued Ordinance No. 31 extending the "climbing ban along the face perpendicular to the top station of the cable car stretch Serauta-Punta Rocca, the rock climb Via Dell’Ideale and its variants, as well as a band of 200m both to the right and to the left of the base of the route. From 16 July to 22 July 2016."

This new Ordinance that extends the climbing ban - and which follows the previous ordinance No. 25 issued on 21/06/2016 due to building works being carried out at the Punta Rocca cable car station - has now issued as a result of "difficulties encountered during the building works due to bad weather."

It is worth noting that, compared to the previous Ordinance this new climbing ban, from 16 to 22 July 2016, includes not only “the face perpendicular to the top station of the cable car stretch Serauta-Punta Rocca, the rock climb Via Dell’Ideale and its variants" but also all the climbing contained on “a band of 200m both to the right and to the left of the base of the route."
