| Martina Cufar from Slovenia is making the most of her retirement from the competition circuit and has just repeated Bitka s stalaktiti (Battle with Stalactites) 8b+ in the massive cave at Osp, Slovenia. The route had been bolted and freed recently by Matej Sova and Klemen Becan, and follows an immense 55m weaving line through a series of fragile tufas. Martina sent the route on her second attempt and comented that the style of the route is closer to that on the greek island of Kalymnos, rather than that at nearby Misja Pec. Martina announced her competition retirement this year after finishing 16th overall in 2006 Lead World Cup. In her 14 years and 260 competitions she succeeded in 32 podium places, won 6 Masters and 3 World Cups, was national champion a staggering 9 times, placed second in the European Championship 2002 and, importantly, was World Champion in 2001.
